Famous People

NYC-based artist/designer Jessica Grindstaff’s unique jewelry line has attracted a lot of interest from the rich and famous. Clients such as Karen O, Yoko Ono, and Joanna Newsom have scrambled to taste the sweet nectar of victory. The colorful prize ribbons are a unique and bold statement for the “winner” willing to show it off.

Damn it! Why must everything we like be overworn by celebrities? Before we have had a chance to enjoy it, they’ve already saturated the press with the piece, making the look, over before it began. We really loved this leather and chain bracelet from CCSkye but we’ve seen Lauren Conrad and now Jessica Alba sporting it in the media. We can’t bring ourselves to part with the $150 it would cost to wear this bracelet for maybe a few months.

We applaud the plucky spirit of Maria, the editor/creator of style blog Stickers and Donuts. Maria kept track of every outfit she wore for an entire year, chronically her journey of fashion highs and lows. Maria explains how the project started:
“There was a bit of a hubbub at work, at the time, about how many bright colors I wore and how ridiculous I sometimes looked. We had no dress code at work, so I took advantage of it. I crave a bit of creativity in every day, and getting dressed in fun outfits is one way I got it (until I started S&D). Anyway, I started taking the pictures just so I could see what people were talking about. And yes, as you might have noticed, I win some and lose some as far as fashion is concerned.”
